Mainz is a city known for its joie de vivre. People meet, talk to each other, and celebrate together. The cathedral squares, with their colorful weekly market, are undoubtedly one of the central meeting places. They are the undisputed focal point from which Mainz residents "fan out" into their city. The "Mainz living room" served as inspiration for the development of this logo: At its center is the clearly legible lettering "SUMMER IN THE CITY" – just as the Heunensäule (Heunen Column) stands at the center of the cathedral square. Colored areas and white lines are grouped around them, their design deliberately reminiscent of the paving of the cathedral square. The colored areas symbolize the various events and stages, yet unmistakably belong to the center, "SUMMER IN THE CITY." It is conceivable to assign specific event locations to the individual colors and incorporate this color code, for example, in program flyers and the like.
